Book Summary:
This book is a light-hearted rendition of the original tale of Perseus, complete with gods and gorgons. The story begins with Acrisius, king of Argos, discovering he will have a grandson who is predestined to kill him. That child, Perseus, reaches adulthood and, with the aid of two gods, embarks on a quest taking him to the edges of the ancient Hellenic world.
Background:
I owed this book to myself as a child. It was the first Greek Myth I ever read, contained in some long-forgotten children’s collection. Over the years, I’ve seen many versions, but none seemed to follow the storyline as it was originally related. So, I set out to tell the tale albeit with my usual humorous slant. The original tale is only 2-3 pages in length, and I wanted my novel-length version to stay as true to it as possible. It turned out to be quite a challenge coloring inside the lines yet I hope you, the reader, find some of the same magic I did as a child. I also hope you can forgive me for not being able to resist the impish urge to give away the ending in the title. At least you won’t have to worry about spoiler alerts.
Where to find Perseus Kills His Grandfather:
The book is available on Amazon.com.
This link is to a landing page which should redirect to the appropriate country for purchase.
NOTE: Amazon has a “Read Sample” feature for both of my books. You can read a decent number of pages to help decide if this book might be worth getting (or giving).
Other Outlets:
The softcover version of the book is also available elsewhere. (I have no idea why Barnes & Noble doesn’t list it). Here, I’ve done a Google Book search for you.
